ASUTIL founding father Samuel Kauffmann dies

Samuel Kauffmann, one of the founding fathers of ASUTIL, has died. The organisation announced the sad news on its website. Kauffmann helped set up the South American duty free association more than two decades ago and served as its president. A statement on the ASUTIL website said: "With deep sorrow we report the death of Samuel Kauffmann today [Friday]. "Samuel was part of the driving team of ASUTIL, and is one of its founders, as well as its president for several years. Thanks to his contribution and determination, ASUTIL is now 24 years old. Lagardère Travel Retail opens five new F&B outlets in Austria

Lagardère has opened five new food and beverage outlets at stations in Austria. The global retailer has signed a long-term contract with the Austrian Federal Railways (Österreichische Bundesbahnen - OBB) to run the sites, which it has taken over from the Austrian Tekro Restaurant Betriebsgesellschaft. As part of the deal Lagardère has also taken on the employment of the existing 80 staff at the sites. The restaurants are a Deli Snack & Shop and a LavazzaCaffè Espresso Bar at Graz Railway Station and a Burger King, a Wiener Café & Restaurant Johann and a Lavazza Caffè Bar at Salzburg station. Heinemann driving focus on fine foods with Munich Airport activation

Exotic spices, salami, speciality teas and cheeses will all be on offer as Gebr Heinemann launches its Taste the World campaign at Munich Airport in an attempt to shift focus to the fine food sector. The city is "Germany's undisputed capital of joie de vivre" and Heinemann bosses believe it is the perfect place for the scheme. They hope it will encourage operators within the airport to put more focus on the fine foods sector of the market. Rausch brings natural cosmetics to GTR with Dufry

Natural cosmetics brand Rausch has launched into travel retail with a release courtesy of Dufry in Switzerland. The brand has been selling in the domestic market since 1890. It attributes its success to the fact that "natural cosmetics are trending". A Rausch spokesman explained: "Naturally beautiful hair, cared for naturally from the roots to the tips: this is what people want." Now, as of this year, the line is available through Dufry at Zurich Airport's New Generation departure store. INCC creates exclusive fragrance range for Asian shoppers

A focus on the Asian shopper is a common trait in the travel retail market today. Perfume brand INCC has taken the opportunity seriously with a line released exclusively for Asian travellers. The Mercedes-Benz Club Blue line has already launched in Korea and a roll-out is currently underway in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The range is also set to arrive in the key Chinese and Japanese markets in the near future.
