ETRC tackles the big issues at annual forum

The big issues facing the travel retail channel were put under the spotlight at the European Travel Retail Confederation’s (ETRC) Annual Business Forum meeting yesterday. The event, held at the Brussels Airport Sheraton hotel, brought together over 120 leading industry representatives – the biggest attendance ever – to focus on key challenges and opportunities for the retail channel. Interview: Say ‘Oui’ to duty free after Brexit

For all the debate around Brexit there is one shining ray of light for those in the GTR industry – the possible return of duty free between the EU and UK. ETRC’s Brexit negotiations still on track

The European Travel Retail Confederation’s discussions with both the UK government and EU member states regarding the status of duty free after Brexit are in full swing and a lot of “positive feedback” has been received. This was the message from the ETRC’s AGM held at Heathrow Airport last week and which saw Sarah Branquinho re-elected as president of the association. UK election and Brexit leave EU ‘facing a cliff edge’

The results of the UK election has increased uncertainty in Europe with many fearing a “cliff-edge scenario” which leaves Britain and the EU without proper trade agreements after Brexit. The discussion came to a head at the 27th ACI Europe Annual Congress, which began in Paris this morning.  ACI Europe president Augustin de Romanet said Brexit’s threat to the single-market could be damaging for the aviation industry as a whole. Nordics 2017: Change, Brexit and inflight in focus

Brexit, inflight sales, shifting population demographics and the rise of China were all on the bill at last week’s Nordic Travel Retail Seminar in Helsinki - but the overriding theme of the day was change.
