Davidoff marks half a century of cigar innovation

Davidoff is marking half a century in the cigar market this year. The brand brought a "new name and a new philosophy" to the market when it was launched in 1968. It's founder, Zino Davidoff, set out in search of new tobaccos and blends and the company has grown from its Geneva base to a worldwide brand. In 1991 Davidoff even established a Centre of Excellence in the Dominican Republic which has inspired the creation of "some of the most original and rewarding cigars in the world." BAT launches next generation Glo products in Japan’s GTR market

The next generation of smoking has hit Japans travel retail market, thanks to BAT's Glo line. The company says the Glo range is a symbol of its constant strive for innovation and an attempt to find new products for consumers. The electronic devices represent a future for the tobacco industry as packaging rules and other restrictions begin to challenge the traditional cigarette market. JTI and Dubai Duty Free team up for first ever exclusive pack

For the first time in a century Camel will include a retailer's logo on its packaging, as part of an exclusive deal between Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and Dubai Duty Free. The new limited edition pack was unveiled last month and will be on sale at Dubai Duty Free stores until the end of the year. It comes after the retailer challenged JTI to find an innovative way to catch the eye of shoppers in the lucrative tobacco market. Mazaya launched pop-up shisha lounge in Dubai

Tobacco firm Mazaya helped travellers at Dubai International Airport to relax with a mini pop-up shisha lounge. The area, in Concourse D, featured two reclining chairs, of the type found in first class on airplanes, surrounded by curved screens to give users a moment of privacy as they were offered Mazaya’s range of shisha tobacco in hookah pipes. Mazaya releases portable shisha pipe for travel retail

Tobacco company Mazaya has released a portable hookah for the travel retail market. The pipe, which is used for smoking flavoured tobacco, has already been listed with Dubai Duty Free.  It is designed to provide shisha users with a way to enjoy the product on the go and users can take advantage of a range of tobacco flavours, including mint, grape, watermelon and cherry. Davidoff Cigars to release new 702 series

Davidoff Cigars will launch it 702 series in February for a limited run in travel retail. The series is a collection of Davidoff’s most iconic core cigars re-released with an Ecuadorian wrapper. The filler and binder tobaccos on the cigars will remain unchanged for the new range, but the Connecticut wrapper has been replaced with the 702 Habano wrapper from Ecaudor.  Gorwn exclusively for Davidoff in San Juan in the foothills of the Andes, the wrapper gives the cigar a more intense and spicy taste, providing scents of wood, cream and milk coffee.
